As some of you may know already I have ventured out of little Ashford for an inspiring trip to LONDON BABY!:)
My day could not have been any better! After dropping Fynley off at his aunt's, Grant and I took a train to King's Cross to go to the 2014 Country Living Spring Fair. The stalls were so beautifully put together and so inspiring to see! You could find anything from hand-sewn and custom designed cushions and haberdashery to bespoke cast-iron fire pits and wooden furniture! Needless to say the place was packed full of enthusiastic buyers who were not put off by the 'handmade' prices! There were so many workshops on offer like 'making your own mosaic' and 'knitting for beginners'; I wish I had made it to the quilting workshop but we arrived later than we expected: boo!
There were so many handmade goodies on offer I did not know what to look at first. What I found extremely pleasing was how friendly all the sellers were: I told them about my business and they told me about theirs and had generously given me heaps of good advice. It felt like each and every customer received personal attention even if they didn't buy anything. I have picked up a stack of business cards and have discovered a fair few potential suppliers.
To wrap up, here are a few bits I picked up at the fair:
After an exhausting 3 hour walk we headed to the Chapel Market just two streets down from the Business Design Centre and I bought some fresh asparagus and romanesco cauliflower for my first budget friendly recipe in my upcoming 'Home Cooking' blog series. Watch this space *wink wink*!
Overall, the trip has been a major success that has brought me back to my business 'drawing room' (it is really just an art pad, hee hee). We were very tired but happy and Fynn has been very well behaved, I've been told.
Today I have a long walk to ASDA with the little one after lunch, dinner to cook and then mummy onesie and teatime!
P.S. The Country Living Spring Fair ends on Sunday the 23rd of March so you still have a chance to go, and I strongly urge you to do so! It is at the London Business Design Centre and you can purchase your tickets here.
